Alma is a native of the Netherlands and graduated
in 1990 from the School for Physical Therapy in Utrecht. She became a Certified Lymphedema
Therapist in 1994. Alma moved to the United States in 2000 and continued specializing in the
treatment of lymphedema. Since 2007, she has been a Lymphedema Association of North America
(LANA) certified therapist. Also, Alma has extensive training in orthopedic
manual therapy. She combines both, lymphatic techniques and orthopedic manual therapy, to restore
muscle and joint function. In addition, she has expertise in aquatic therapy, watsu, ai chi, foot
reflex zone massage, and medicinal aromatherapy. Alma has acted as a lymphedema consultant with the Chatham
Hospital Iniciativa de Salud Hispana Breast Health Project: Hazlo por tu Familia at Chatham
Hospital and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. ***
